Unfortunately, the cover is the most exciting thing about this book. A clumsily done romantic suspense story that (spoiler) has not one, but TWO villans running about--psycho stalker and a businessman turned bad. The heroine spends inordinate amounts of time, and ink, and pages dithering over getting together with her former one-night stand, because they 'know' it was really a realtionship, even though it was just a night. Along with the dithering, she constantly swings back and forth between finding him alternately annoying and amusing, succumbing to temptation only to be 'saved' in the nick of time by the appearance of an elderly relative or pet. The elderly relative? That would be the former movie star great aunt, who gave it all up to raise the heroine and her brother, and is now reduced to playing the role of batty old auntie with a fetish for quoting random movie lines and dispensing wisdom to the heroine. Although I have not read the previous work of this author, apparently there is another book dealing with some of the other characters of this story who also apparently faced psychostalkers (don't know about businessmen gone bad). This made me dislike this story even more--not only was it clumsy and cliched, but the author just recycled the plot from the previous book.

Taylor McKennitt and Claire Hunter had one night of love his brother's wedding to her best friend. Months later, Taylor, a police officer is investigating Claire's great-aunt's new beau. Stillings does a nice job building both the romance and a slightly suspenseful story. She adds humor and explain nicely Claire's reluctance to get involved with Taylor. This is a sequel to her "Damsel in This Dress" and while not neccesary to read that one first, there are repeating characters and references to the storyline. Good, quick read.

Fun read, I enjoyed the book!!!
This book is by Marianne Stillings

From the back of the book:
It was a night of slow dances, heated looks, and for Detective Taylor McKennitt, the earth moved. Unfortunately, so did the lovely Claire...right on out the door. Not that it wasn't the hottest night of her life. In fact, the memory of Taylor's kisses, his touch, his...everything makes Claire want to leap right back into the sexy detective's bed. But the last thing she needs is to fall in love with a man in blue, even if he is irresistible. And determined.
Then just when Taylor thinks he's close to getting her back into his life, a deranged killer targets Claire. Now it's Taylor's duty to protect her. And in the process, he'll win her resisting heart or die trying--which is sudenly a very distinct possibility.

Fast paced story. The suspense part was a bit weird but overall I liked it. The hero, Taylor, is funny and I like the relationship he has with his brother. Hope he has a story too.

OK, one long bad review and ten short, good ones. I have to agree with the ten short ones. I found this book to be funny, witty, with corny dialogue that I just loved because it reminded me of my own quirky, corny family. The snappy comebacks and cartoonish characters only added to the charm of the story. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to enjoy this book; on the contrary - check your brain at the cover and just let go and enjoy. Sometimes books don't have to be meaningful; they can just be entertaining, and I found this one to be a fast, easy, and entertaining read.

I loved the way these two played off each other. The snappy comebacks, the smoldering sex scenes that burst into flames. Taylor McKennitt is a real BAD BOY and Claire Hunter can handle him. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

It was a night of slow dances, heated looks, and for detective Taylor McKennitt, the Earth moved.

Unfortunately, so did the lovely Claire . . .

But the last thing she needs is to fall in love with a man in blue, even if he is irresistible. And determined.

Then just when Taylor thinks he's close to getting her back into his life, a deranged killer targets Claire. Now it's Taylor's duty to protect her. And in the process, he'll win her resisting heart or die trying -- which is suddenly a very distinct possibility.
