Okay, I guess I have to make a new topic for this, whenever I put a question in a discussion thread, it's quickly gobbled up..LOL

Anyone read these books?  How are they.  I acquired the first three, and amongst all the other books I've been devouring, I haven't touched them, but they seem like something I would probably like.  So I wanted to know if anyone has read them and how they feel about them.

i've read all three, and liked them.  they're urban fantasy and a bit dark, so i have to be in the right mood to read them.  don't read them when you're wanting something light and fluffy.  :)

I agree, they are a bit on the dark side but I enjoyed them.

No romance at all?  OH GOD listen to me, I'm a para romance junkie.

well, there's a *little* bit of romance, but it's definitely a fantasy series, not romance.

I just finished the first one, and it was medium.  I want to know what happens next, but it seemed a bit long through the middle.  The author has promise, I just thought some of her world-building could use a little more fine-tuning.  But then I'm in a reading slump so that could be part of it!

It's not a drippy sort of romance all the way through (nobody is waiting for their destined soul-mate to nibble their neck and save them from eternal damnation and madness), but there is romance.  ;)   But no, it's not only romance.  I can't promise a happily-ever-after for the characters I know about so far since I only finished the first book and the series is one big continuing story.

I really liked them. I'm waiting to get #4.

I like fantasy so I'm fine with the small bits of romance thrown in. I think the storyline is unique. Not in the good vs evil way but  the whole concept. I can really "see" Vegas when I'm reading them.

Good!  I'm tired of all the paranormal romance...it's hard to figure out which or UF and which are romance.  I so sick of the formulated...boy meets girl, boy and girl fight the attraction that isn't 'right' then finally they figure out they are 'meant' to be together... YUCK!  I"m moving them up in my TBR!!!

I agree with Ellen, they are a bit dark and I had to be in the mood for them but they were great!

I guess I'm the only one that felt like it dragged. I got throught he 1st one and thought ok its not sooo terrible. The 2nd one just dragged along. Something in the writing just didn't grab me and the dual worlds created by the writer. I couldn't even finish book 2 and I can pretty much read anything.

Actually, I didn't really like them either. The first one was so-so for me, and I didn't even finish the second one. I never really cared for the main character enough to continue on with the series.

I read the first and disliked the main character a lot. In fact, the author is on my very small never buy list.

I absolutely love this series. I've read the first 2 books through twice, and am now contemplating reading all 3 through again in anticipation for the next book. I think her alternative Las Vegas is really unique, and I am a fan of her writing style. I love vamps, weres, witches and the like, but that all gets a little monotonous after a while. This is a wonderful break from all of that.

The romance doesn't promise a "happily ever after" and I also like that. Though of course it makes me want them to be together even more. Pettersson thinks out her story lines before she writes them, and I love looking for those hints throughout the books. Of course, it doesn't mean I'm going to figure out what happens, but I do like to try.

Las Vegas was like a second home for me growing up, and I get very nostalgic reading these books.

Some people have expressed dislike for the main character, but I found her likeable and empathetic.

One man's treasure...(and all that)!

I'm in the "not my cuppa" camp, only got 3/4 thru the first book.  Didn't enjoy the heroine, and had issues with plot believability (as I recall).  The author has a strong fan following tho, so she's definately doing something right.  For a change of pace, this series may be just what you're looking for.  You already have them, so it's not costing anything...enjoy!
