This is one of my all time favorite books. I am a prolific reader and seldom re-read books- this book I've read at least 5 times! It has suspense, historical, murder, intrigue, death, romance- all set during bibical times shortly after the death of Jesus Christ. This book follows the adventures of Basil, an adopted son who is raised by an indulgent father and mother and then suffers greatly upon the death of his father. His life takes a dramatic turn, and the rest of the book takes you along with Basil and his journey. He begins the book only caring about his craft- sculpting, and ends with many life lessons along the way.
