1c sugar
1c Powdered sugar
1t vanilla
Beat well with mixer then add
2 eggs
beat, then add
4c flour
1t salt

Beat well and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Shape into balls, roll in sugar and bake at 350 until slightly brown on edges.

Are these crispy cookies? The cream of tartar and the sugar on the outside leads me to believe that they might be. I am actually trying a friends sugar cookie recipe as I type this. I mixed up the dough earlier and it is chilling in the refrigerator. I like soft, cakey sugar cookies. My friend told me her recipe would fit the bill so we'll see!

No, they aren't crispy, they are soft.  The kind where if a piece falls off, you can press it back on.  The sugar gives a bit of a light crust, but they are very soft.  I shaped most of them into thick ovals and didn't dip them in sugar and frosted them into easter eggs.  The last few I rolled in sugar.  They were both delicious!!
