It's incredible the way some authors can bring a complex plot to a book I picked up purely for the smut! Kate Pearce really did me in with this couple, Helene and Phillip. They meet as youngsters and discover a great passion that they are too young to realize is a once in a lifetime thing. Helene's already experienced too much of life to be swept away and pragmatically sends her lusty and impulsive suitor on his way.
18 years later the two come crashing together as mature adults, although both are representatives of the walking wounded. Helene in her practical manner has made the best of things, the successful madame of an exclusive pleasure house. Phillip has become brittle by his exposure to cruelty and a faithless marriage. This couple really do meet toe to toe and give as good as they get. The sex scenes are sexy and the dialogue is smart. Entertaining and satisfying read!

Excellent writing; good storyline; interesting characters, and the sex scenes are very well written. This book wasn't as erotic as her previous one in this series (Simply Sinful), but well worth the read.

This book was quite good due to the character development of Helene and Philip. I found it satisfying to learn finally about Helene's background. Philip had an unusually difficult adult life as well after he was forced into an unwanted marriage. It's quite an absorbing tale of lost love and second chances and a worthy addition to the Simply series. 4 stars.
