This type of historic novel is not normally my cup of tea, but since I am living in Singapore I found the account fascinating.

This is the story of the fall of Singapore in World War II from a British colony into Japanese control. It is told through the perspective of a dozen or more characters. Like most novels of its kind it tends to ramble and overlap itself a bit too much, but it does convey a sense of the times. If you have been to modern Singapore, it also provides insight into the amazing city that has risen from the ashes, while making you wonder for the future.
