To Sir Phillip With Love - Bridgerton, Bk 5
Author: Julia Quinn
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except… she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all ...  more »

Unfortunately, the Bridgerton sisters' stories aren't as enjoyable as the brothers', in my opinion. This one was decent but definitely on the bottom of my Bridgerton favorites list.

What a delightful read this is. Julia Quinn is a new author to me, but this certainly makes me want to read more.
Sir Philip corresponds with a 28 year-old spinster, thinking she would be grateful to be asked to marry him and to be a mother to his eight-year-old twins who are a definite hand-full. When Eloise arrives, she not only discovers that there is no chaperone, but that he has children whom he hadn't mentioned. Then her four brothers get into the act, and it gets even more interesting!

This is book #5 in the Bridgerton Series. I love the stories and how characters keep interacting through the stories. Julia Quinn is a very entertaining author and I really like her stories of love.

I am not an expert in romance novels, in fact I only read a few authors.
A modern Jane Austen she is not.
A lot of the terms she uses seem to come from the
"1811 dictionary of the vulgar tongue" more than what one would expect of the gentry.
However Julia Quinn stories are quite pleasant, the dialogs are witty, there is some humor, heroine and heroes are interesting (even if a bit too modern for the time),and the other characters in these novels actually have enough personality to make you want to keep following.
I enjoyed "the Bridgertons"-To Sir Phillip, With Love, being my favorite of the series- and "Lady Whistledown".
I find the sexual scenes repetitive, and similar in most books, but i guess there is only enough you can describe without becoming erotica, they get quite boring so i usually skip them.
