My best friend's mother was a Black WAC who served during this era, and I was always curious about her role. Had she perhaps been one of the Six Triple Eight? I thought this book would have been a gold mine into what these brave women did, but that historical aspect took a backseat in favor of a tedious tale of two hot-and-cold sometimey friends that I simply couldn't warm to. At least the 6888th is on my radar now, but the telling of it was a sore disappointment.
