Size 14 Is Not Fat Either - Heather Wells, Bk 2 Author:Meg Cabot HEATHER SINGS THE BLUES — Former pop star Heather Wells has settled nicely into her new life as assistant dorm director at New York College -- a career that does not require her to drape her size 12 body in embarrassingly skimpy outfits. She can even cope (sort of) with her rocker ex-boyfriend's upcoming nuptials, which the press has dubbed T... more »he Celebrity Wedding of the Decade. But she's definitely having a hard time dealing with the situation in the dormitory kitchen -- where a cheerleader has lost her head on the first day of the semester. (Actually, her head is accounted for -- it's her torso that's AWOL.)
Surrounded by hysterical students -- with her ex-con father on her doorstep and her ex-love bombarding her with unwanted phone calls -- Heather welcomes the opportunity to play detective... again. If it gets her mind off her personal problems -- and teams her up again with the gorgeous P.I. who owns the brownstone where she lives -- it's all good. But the murder trail is leading the average-sized amateur investigator into a shadowy world. And if she doesn't watch her step, Heather will soon be singing her swan song!« less
A wonderfully awesome book (especially for us larger girls out there) and you don't need the first book to know what's going on. It's a wonderful read!
I thought the situation in the first book was really messed up, but I don't think that really compares to what Heather gets herself into with this book! Not much happens on the Cooper front, which I'm a bit disappointed in, but lots of other stuff happens and Heather once again solves the murder mystery, putting herself (and others) in danger while doing so.
Just as funny and entertaining as "Siz 12"! I love the way Cabot deftly mixes murder and mayhem with humor. And if you thought Heather Wells' cast of friends was already interesting, wait until you meet her ex-con father!
In this second novel about Heather Wells, former pop star turned resident hall assistant turned amateur sleuth, Heather and her residence hall are faced with yet another murder, just months after the murders that took place in the first novel, Size 12 Is Not Fat. As usual, her landlord/psuedo-boyfriend, Cooper, is telling her to stay out of it - but let's face it, Heather cannot let the investigation of the murder of an innocent cheerleader lay solely in the hands of the cops, who we all know from book one are not as competent at their jobs as they would like Heather to believe.
Who doesn't love a saucy, overweight, former teen pop sensation turned amateur detective? Meg Cabot has done it again with a clever plot, laugh out loud narrative and dialogue, as well as surprises along the way. Five stars!

Great book. Love the entire series. Funny, witty and just the right amount of mystery and romance.
