Skeleton in the Closet by Angie Fox
I said on the first book in the series, Southern Spirits, I don't usually like mystery type books. That was the exception.... this is the second exception.
I loved the story. The characters are wonderful, likeable and believable. In a way it's almost written like a YA books, where there's no real big over the top sex scenes, just some smooching here and there, just a nice little taste. And some will miss it, some won't ... one thing it allows you to get to know the characters better.
Lots of twists and turns to who killed Darla, and some ghostly mystery (gosh wouldn't Lizzie's dog Pirate, from Biker Witch Series, love them all) ... And some twist and turns, you'll cheer the end when everything is laid out...
If you liked Southern Spirits, you'll love this one. If you missed that you, you can pick up this book and be safe to start with this one and if you like it go back and catch the others in the series. At worse starting with Skeleton in the Closet you'll miss the background story between Verity and the gang. It won't hurt anything ... I like reading things from the beginning, but you can read this book without the others.

I haven't read the first book in the series but having read Fox's Biker Witches Mystery series, I knew I'd enjoy this one too. As always her characters have you laughing out loud. Verity's pet skunk is adorable and side-kick ghost, Frankie is a force to be reckoned with. Having grown up with Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries, getting a chance to help Verity look for clues and find out why and who killed Darla Grace was pretty awesome. There's just enough romance to keep it interesting and gotta love the ghosts at the library even though they seem destined to relive the last moments of their life. Though there is a previous book in the series, there is enough back story to still make reading this one an enjoyable and fun read. I will go back and read book one though just because it was so fun.

The Skeleton in the Closet is the second book in the Southern Ghost Hunter mystery series. Verity Long has been struggling to salvage both her reputation and her family home in Sugarland, Tennessee and with the help of her faithful sidekick Frankie is finally making strides.

Sugarland is in the throes of the Cannonball in the Wall celebration, which marks the towns historic battle during the Civil War. Verity's sister Melody is organizing the display at the town library and is encountering her own battle between the two founding families, the Wydells and the Jacksons.

When Darla Grace, the Sugarland Historic Society Volunteer of the year is found bludgeoned to death in the library, Melody becomes a prime suspect. It seems as though Darla Grace has unearthed a piece of evidence in the archives that might change the future lives of Sugarland residents forever.

Frankie, Angie's resident gangster ghost offers to help her delve into the spirit world if only she continues to help "unground" him. A lot of laughs at the efforts to gather all of Frankie's ashes back into his urn so that he can pass on to another realm.

While not necessary to read the first in the series, it would help to understand Angie's relationship with Josephine and Ma Baker, who figure into the investigation into Darla Grace's murder. Reading the first would also allow you the opportunity to catch up on the budding romance between Angie and Ellis Wydell.

This is a fun, fast paced read with lots of smiles and laughter. I love Lucy, Angie's pet skunk. Am definitely looking forward to the next in the series to see how karma served the prominent families of Sugarland.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley via Season Publishing. While I was not required to write a review I am more than happy to offer my honest opinion.
