I couldn't put this book down. Bought it a few years back in Canada, as it was a community read selection.

Don't pick this one up for a quick read. You'll want to have the time to savor Ondaatje's wonderful language. I didn't expect much when I picked it up: what a fine surprise! I felt immersed in a Canadian immigrant community, and met characters who were quite new to me.

From the author of "The English Patient". The story of a N.American immigrant in the 1920's, struggling to find a life in Toronto. A dream-like and surreal atmosphere, requires dedicated reading.
