This isn't one of Cookson's best books and is a bit short. While it was a study of local character, I had a hard time getting to "know" the characters of this book. It's a short read.

CATHERINE COOKSON IS ONE OF THE BEST ENGLISH WRITERS.
MANY OF HER BOOKS ARE MADE IN TO MOVIES, THEY ARE ALL HEARTBREAKING.
SLINKY JANE MAKES YOU CRY AND LAUGH AT THE SAME TIME.
