You might post this in the general discussion area, also, as many businesses and consultants use them.

I have a Smartboard and projector and love it!  It can be used like a large screen for video clips, etc but also the ability to write on the screen and save the info on the computer is invaluable.  Whether it is something through Smartboard technology like a map or a PowerPoint or the internet, I can mark items, focus in on them through Smartboard tools, highlight text and then save or print the screen.  Students love to use the board too - like marking locations on a map for review game or drawing diagrams or using the interactive Smartboard features.  I even use it when I need a timer for activities because the interactive timer does a countdown and buzzes.  When I need to have students "flip a coin" to decide groups or order of presentation, I use the rolling dice on the Smartboard.  Just so many ways to use the features because the tools can be used with any program on the computer.  A simple example is Powerpoints - the touchscreen of the Smartboard allows me to move between slides or highlight one without being stuck near the computer.  The Smartboard has a screen based keyboard as well so I can add text or type in a web address, etc again without having to be at the computer. So I can stay in front of the class easier.

I also have a SmartBoard. My only problem at the moment is my classroom has the windows from the 1970s so the light coming into my room doesn't allow anyone to see the board. However, our whole school has gone to Smartboards and Starboards (different brand) and everyone loves it. They use them for everything from writing to videos to presentations and anything else you can come up with.

Anyone know if Smartboards could be useful in the preschool classroom?
