Mike Hammer is a more intense version of the classic hardboiled detective. Hammer, a war verteran and staunch anitcommunist is just as likely to put a bullet in the belly as he is a punch to the face. If you enjoy Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade, check out Mike Hammer.
