I like mysteries that "delve into the past" which is probably why I really enjoy the Professor Simon Shaw books.

The second Simon Shaw had great red herrings and was a fast read; perfect for an evening's entertainment when you want to learn a bit about history without it being shoved down your throat.

This series is teaching me wonderful things about South Carolina, and I'm looking forward to reading more of the series.
