Very, very, interesting story that captivates your mind instantly. I did have to skip over alot of the foot-binding proceduere as it was very graphic and heart-breaking. The story will keep your interest. You almost feel as if you know the characters in the book. Two little Chinese girls are introduced as pen pals and become best friends throughout their lives and endure the harshly strict customs that governed thier health, mental, and financial lives.

This was a wonderful book of friendship and I enjoyed it even more than Shanghai Girls. It is also very interesting to see the history and culture of girls in China. It goes through the foot binding process and it's meaning. As always it seems, the book is much, much better than the movie.
