My mom read this first and told me I shouldn't. I'm glad I didn't listen to her. I enjoyed it even though It was heartwrenching and I cried through most of it. I think it made me appreciate my vet and her assistants more than I do. I absolutely understand the emotions since I have lost several kitties to cancer and went through the treatments with a couple. A must for those of us that love our furbabies. 4 stars

Excellent book. Sad, but if you love cats, it's well worth reading.

Overall a good read.

Book really discusses cases the author has been involved with mainly - cats with cancer.

Book might mean a little more to me, since I lost a cat to cancer and was told nothing could be done - no treatments were available.

I have to say I was amazed by the treatments given to the cats in this book. This book was published in '83 so makes one wonder how far that field has come since then.

Very touching account of dealing with life while caring for cats with sometimes incurable illnesses.

Collection of stories about the Authors years working at New York City's famous Animal Medical Center. If you can't handle stories about the death of an animal then pass on this book, it contains no happy endings. She worked with cats that had terminal illnesses. It does have a bit of humor and you can see her patience and courage radiate from the pages.
