The first Sarah Dunant book I read was her breakthrough bestseller, 'The Birth of Venus.' I've since dug up her earlier novels, including the Hannah Wolfe mysteries. Not only is Dunant a fabulous writer of historical fiction, but her suspsense novels, this one included, are fabulous!
I was on the edge of my chair until the very end of this book. Well-crafted and incredibly suspenseful, it had me guessing until the very end. Some parts of the plot are predictable, but others took me by surprise. In short, I'm looking forward to the rest of the 'older' books by Dunant. If you enjoyed 'Mapping the Edge' you'll probably enjoy this one.

Not as strong as Dunant's other work. Didn't really pull me in.
This is a 5 star book for me. I highly recommend to those of you who like mystery and suspense. This book was full of it. Now that I have met Sarah Dunant's writing, I am going to read one of her other books. She does it so right! This book is great, it keeps you interested, flipping page to page and once you set it down, you find you're looking for it again so you can read JUST ONE MORE page. Its sad in the ending but has a good ending that turns out just right. I really enjoyed it.
