One on my wishlisted books became available, the sender declined saying that they could not mail the book.

10 minutes later, the book is offered to me again, it is the same sender.

I have pm'd her asking her if there was a paticular reason she could not mail the book to me, I am waiting for a response.

Obviously she reposted it after she declined, but won't this be some evil loop since I am the first wisher?

What is the next step?

Thanks!

Leigh

If she cancels instead of denying the RC, it will go into an endless loop. If she deny's the RCs and there are other wishers, then it should go to the next person wishing for it. I've had a couple people that took a couple tries before they figured that out.

The only possibility I can think of that it would come back to you if they denied an RC is maybe if they are posting it, and then putting their shelf of Vacation Hold. The Vacation Hold might catch the book and "repost" it when they remove the Hold offering it to the first person in FIFO again..

If they are turning it down because you are an APO and you need someone to play intermediary to get the book to you, feel free to PM me.

Really, I just had another wish list booked declined because of my requestor conditions, conditions that I have no control over, so I have a feeling this will be the case with this book also

Nice, 2 wishlisted books in one afternoon, makes me feel special.

Guess I need to have that patience today that I reminded another member of.

I hate living overseas, I am so happy I will be back stateside come January 2010.

Leigh,

I felt so bad reading about your 2 wish-listed books being rejected that I just posted a wish list book to you.  I assume your RC is about the customs form which I have no problem with.  Do you know if I can download the form? If not, no problem, I will get it at the P.O.

If the RC is about cats, I have 4 of them, but none of us smokes.

Leslie,

I have no problems with cats!!!

You can get the form at the USPS website, but other members have said the form is a pain in the you know what, so, I don't know if you want to use that one or not.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Sorry to be whiney, can you tell I am ready to move back to the States?  It has been lovely living here, but sometimes the cultural differences can drive you up the wall.

You would not believe the hurdles I have to jump through to get out of here, and I thought coming here was bad.

Thanks again!

Leigh

I've never tried the online form, I just keep some of them on hand.  So much easier to fill them out by hand.

Some people just can't get to the PO for lots of reasons.  Sorry it's happened to you with 2 WL books in a row.

I hope you get your wishlist books soon. Sometimes, it is the small things (getting that message of a wishlist being fulfilled) that can make your day, but also can bring you down a little when the day already feels sluggish. And to have two turned down can feel like a little kick. I took a look at your list but don't have any of those titles.

Hi Leigh!  I also checked your wishlist, nothing today :-(       OTOH, your wishlist is really short - you need to request more books!!!

Rumor says the downloadable customs form is longer, the PO version is a half page and fairly basic.  If a phone number is required, I've heard using your own works fine :-)

I looked at your WL too to see if I had anything.  It's very short.

I have to say that there are members who decline RC's whenever they receive them.  They won't play nice.  Sometimes it's because they can't get to the PO - but more often if there's no reason stated -it's because they don't like RC's.  And we know that you have no choice about some of the wording of the RC.  I'm so sorry about your having drawn those 2 members.  Many  here are more than willing to send to APO's.

I've gotten the dreaded "sorry I just never will accept RC on principle" message too.  It's funny, sad, and annoying at the same time!!  :-p  One lady went on and on apologizing for refusing me because she understood why I *must* have RC being overseas and it was understandable but gee I just couldn't possibly compromise on my principles (however idiotic they may be--and no that is me talking she didn't say that LOL).  *sigh*

Oh well.  I'm just really thankful for PBS and their wonderful RC at all, and most people here have been really fabulous!!!  :)  I've joined a couple of other swap-type sites, and none are half as APO-friendly as PBS!!!  :)
