I got a wish list offer last night. When I checked the person who offered the book to see what else they had on their shelf it turned out the book they were offering was the only thing on their shelf. never had that happen before.

I've had that happen quite a bit, but most often since the change to memberships.  People just aren't keeping big bookshelves and only posting books as they need credits.  That's what I'm doing.

Some members don't have much storage space, so they only order and post wish listed books.

I am one of those. Right now I have nothing on my bookshelf. Mainly because I offered deals and got rid of a lot of what I had. I recently went through and will be posting some more in the near future that will go on my shelf but for now I have only been posting WL books.

I haven't had a shelf in years. Don't really want the spare books sitting around the house. If it's not wishlisted, it gets traded or donated locally.

Yep , that's what I'm gonna do also. if the books on my shelf don't go before I go to the Used book store. I'll clear them from my shelf and take them there.  I really have been mostly sending WL books anyway.

I don't have any books on my shelf, either.  I mainly just post wishlisted books.

these small shelves must be a trend. I requested a book yesterday and the person I requested from had 3 books on their shelf. 2 now.

I feel kinda extravagant. I have 29 books on my shelf.

I recently got a request for a book I had on my shelf for a long time, so as members browse, especially new members, those books do get chosen. But I have decided to get rid of any books that have lots of copies in the system; I'll just donate those. I just don't have space to keep those all. I  always browse for more books from member when I request a book, but if the shelf is more than 200 books, I don't look at all of them if I don't find something appealing in the first couple of pages. It just takes too long.

I keep at least 150 books on my 'shelf' ........seems if I don't have at least that many I never get a request.  I rarely ever have anyone 'order more' except for children's book series.   And lots of my books that have been posted for 3-4 years get selected!

I just got 2 orders on the same day where the members ordered 3 and 4 books. Some I'd posted 5 years ago and some had 900 copies in the system. You just never know what will be ordered.

I requested a book today. the person has 1,233 books on their shelf. I tried to look through the shelf but only made it to the 'd's'.

Do you think people are maybe looking a little harder and moving outside of their usual comfort zone or getting books for others to use up credits?

Went through my shelf when the membership changed and removed a bunch to donate but like others I still get a lot of the remaining books requested.  Over the weekend a nephew, single father with custody of three, came to visit.  I took the children to my book shelf and gave them books that they wanted to read.  They loved choosing books that they were interested in owning and I didn't mind moving them off my bookshelf. For all of us it was a win-win situation.
