Agree with the review here by Cathy in 2014. There is a chart of the major characters in the front of the book that helps with keeping track of who is who. Main characters include 1) a man kidnapped by Indians as a young boy, who later becomes a Texas Ranger and acquires huge amounts of land for a cattle ranch; 2) his son, who falls in love with a Mexican neighbor; and 3) his granddaughter, who moves the family business from cattle to oil. Something like Giant, but waaaaaaaay more realistic.
