I use the site fictfact.com to help track my series. This morning when I logged on the site had a release date for "A Dance of Dragons" on 12-25-2012. I am wondering if anyone has heard anything. I am dying to know how the whole thing ends and this might be my favorite series. Grant it, I came to the series recently so I am not having to wait as long as others have but I would love to see how the story ends.

This is what I found via Google. Maybe the date is not off.

George RR Martin?s A Dance with Dragons almost done!
George RR Martin is just 5 chapters away from the end of A Dance with Dragons!

?We?re hoping to have a finished manuscript by Christmas. He?s told me he has five chapters left and bits of each chapter are done. He really wants it done by the end of the year. We really ? I mean really ? want to announce the pub date in January,? commented Spectra senior editor Anne Groell.

I've seen so many dates announced (even by the publisher! not just rumor mill) than pushed back....even this date is a new and later, one.

I won't believe anything at this point until I see the dam book!!!!!!!

This was the greatest series ever, topped only by LOTR; it drove me crazy at first not to have an end. Martin has a great thing going, if he can just finish it.

December of 2012??? Oh, that is so far away. I wish he'd quit messing about with all those anthologies and work on what matters - this book!!

Oh, well, at least I'll be able to watch it on HBO while I wait...that is something exciting! :-)

I started this series years ago and it is the reason that I now never begin a series until it is complete. I started Feast of Crows when it finally was published and could not remember some of the characters. I put it down in the hope that the next book would soon appear since I needed to re read the first three anyway. Still waiting. Very frustrating since it is a great series!
