Barb, its not unusual to find one book with a bunch of tags. What I do is just give all my books my own Collection name in the tag data and remove anything else the author/publisher has put in there. Otherwise you can end up with hundreds of collections on just a handful of books.

If you've got only one or a few books, it's probably just easier to erase the SD card and reload from Calibre after checking your Calibre settings.

To format the SD card, first, make sure the machine is fully charged.

Try going into [Settings] - [initialzation] - [Format Memory] - [SD Card] - [Format SD Card? Yes]

Make sure you're just formatting the SD card, otherwise the main memory will be Hard Formatted and you'll have to re-do your settings and re-register with Sony.

This will erase everything on the SD card.

Then in Calibre check how you're telling it to save your collections.

On Calibre, go to [Preferences] - [Sending Books to Devices] - [Metadata Mangement]

You'll have three choices MANUAL management (Calibre never removes a Collection once created), ONLY ON SEND (adds/removes collections only when it's sent to the device) and AUTOMATIC MANAGEMENT (Keeps metadata always updated - Slows the process down some on connect.)

See what it's set at and probably chose ONLY ON SEND.

Then make sure your sending only the Collection information you want.

To Check and make sure your only sending Collection information from the Tag Collum

Go to [Preferences] - [Plugins] - [Search for "Sony"] - [Chose on "Sony PRST1 and Newer Device Interface" then click on "Customize plugin"]

You should see a list of formats and down the page, the second text box, there's a choice of what to take the Collection information from, the series, tags, or authors list. It can use all three to make Collections. You probably just want "Tags" in there. If so, remove the others from the list and hit "Ok"

Then decide what Collections you want, and change the data in the Tag files so each book will sort into the Collection you want it to. You can do multiple collections on 1 book, IIRC, by seperating the Collection names with a comma.

The simpler you can keep them, the better.

Yes, I always put my own tags on my ebooks in Calibre.  I delete any that automatically load with the book.  Some ebooks have like two dozen tags attached to them.  Umm, no, I like my own.

You can't. The metadata download information is embedded in the book. You can only change it through Calibre through changing the tag information and then reconverting it.

DRM'd books will keep the information, unfortunatly.

Cant I just Delete the 1 ebook & get rid of all these collections?

Depends on how Calibre is set and if you loaded it through there. Did you read that part of my post?

Quick answer is just to try it and see.
