I've read on another website somewhere that the 13th book is the last.

Anyone heard anything on this?

Hmm. Ive heard lots of rumors that the end was coming soon, but i never heard an exact number. Its kind of bittersweet i think. I mean, i love this series. But....there is only so long you can draw out certain issues, without finally giving us some answers. And there has been one or two recently that felt to me like filler books. I dunno, i think she may as well end it while Sookie is still hot. May as well go out on top! LOL

Oh, Thank goodness.

I loved the books, but they are getting tired for me now.

And, I'm sorry, but I am tired of Sookie getting beaten up really badly in practically every book. It kind of snuck up on me until I noticed how very, very much it happens. Now I kind of cringe when it starts.

i went to an author thing a couple years ago and she said she had just signed for 3 more books in series.  I don't remember how many it put the series up to, but I have the feeling at least a couple more.

The recent one was #11.  So this would mean 2 more.  I think it is getting to be time to end the series.

I've decided to think that Sookie books and True Blood are unrelated.  One is about relationships and Southern mannerisms.  The other is totally visual.  Thinking about them as unrelated has really helped me enjoy them both more.  The TV opening with the lush views has helped put me in the mindset that they are based on one idea, going in two very different directions.

Emily, I agree.  When True Blood first started I was frustrated because it wasn't following the book exactly.

Then I just started considering the books and TV show as two different forms of entertainment.  Now I enjoy the TV show more because I'm not putting it in the same box as the book.

And the style is so different.  I just lean back and enjoy the view.  Thank goodness there is quite a view.

Thank god...the last few books have been horrible but I'm already so invested I still read them.  It's time to wrap it up.  I just hope the next few are decent

Yes, I have read in several places that # 13 will be the last book of the series. I also read that Sookie will find her HEA, but he is someone who we have not yet met.

True Blood makes me very annoyed but like a car wreck I just can't look away. The books are so good (especially the early ones) I  wish they followed them more closely. I love the suggestion to treat them completely separate I think I could enjoy it more that way. Although the eye candy is worth any amount of annoyance!!! lol

I enjoy both the books and tv show.  As mentioned, I just look at it as two seperate things so it doesn't bother me much that the show strays from the books.  I am getting a bit tired of the books I have to admit.  They just aren't as good as the earlier ones.  But...I know I'll keep reading them LOL

At 1st I was so surprised that HBO was presenting a 'rather-different' Sookie book.  Then after sleeping on it a few nights and seeing a few shows, I also decided to just think of them as very different .  Now, I am more into "True Blood".  I didn't even place the newest Sookie book on my wishlist, and then when it was 'out', I checked around online and found most ppl really weren't giving it great marks or ratings.  I've just skipped that one.

I am glad for Charlaine, that she is doing well, and it is her writing those "True Blood" novels and all, ???

I only wish her well.  I surely enjoyed the first of those books!  From the end of 2006, when I purchased the first 3 over at Barnes and Noble, and those were all that there were of her Sookie series there at the time, and maybe out (I wasn't YET into PN, just beginning) I have enjoyed the series.  The series has had a GREAT "RUN".  And Charlaine is doing well!!  Good!!

I know she's said in a couple of places that 13 will probably be the last, but I guess as long as "True Blood" does well, she'll probably keep cranking them out. Frankly, I've not been happy with where Sookie has been for awhile, so I wouldn't be that upset if she decides to finally wrap it up. Would love for this suitor issue (it's going to be Sam, isn't it?) to finally be resolved, too.

I do watch the show just for Eric/Alexander, I'll admit it. It's a shame they're already butchering my favorite of the series (Dead to the World), but I'll keep watching as long as he's on there. And fast-forwarding through everything else! wink

The Harris books knocked me out when they started and I'll keep reading until she stops writing, but yeah, I see the need for an ending coming soon. It's gotta stop somewhere.  I still watch true blood on HBO but I've never been happy with the way Alan Ball just tosses parts of the books around and then throws them into a jumble and airs them. Yep definitely two different ways to tell a story.

I watched a movie trailer the other day of the movie Thor and I thought, now there's the guy that should have played Eric. He fits better to my preconceived idea of what Eric looks like...Tall, long blond hair and great body. Alexander is a cutie too but he just wasn't  what my mind was expecting from reading the books.

Funny you should say that, Lois, because Alex actually auditioned for the role of Thor back before it started filming. ;) Aside from his short hair, though, he's everything I picture Eric to be.
