I enjoy romance novels, but when I sort for them I get all the harlequin and sillohette type, which I don't like. Is there a way to sort for romance but not of that type? |

How are you doing your search? I just went to advanced search clicked romance and go (I didn't choose a subcategory) and it brought up a huge list of romances. I didn't scroll very far but the first page wasn't the little series romances. |

Someone may have an easier way, but you can do it by selecting book browser under search and click on exclude multiple genres. Scroll down to Romance and open the Series button. You can now choose to exclude Harlequins, Signets, Silhouettes, etc. |

Well on someone's bookshelf you can reduce the sort a little I believe by chooseing say contemporary or historical-I think. But if there shelf has those little romances on them then they'll show up. |

The problem is primarily due to the books listed in the database not being properly sub-categorized. Sometimes you are lucky that they are even categorized as romance, and not sitting unknown in the Lit & Fiction cat., hidden away from you and your search in the Romance genre. If all Romance books had a sub-genre attached to them, all those Harlequins and Sillouhettes would be listed there, and not appear when you search for Historical or Contemporary, or Regency, unless they were of those types also. But, there are way too many books to ever hope we will someday get them all properly categorized, much less sub-categorized! hahaha |
