Excellent & an historically important book, written by the great friend of Vera Brittain (Testament of Youth). Those with tender hearts where animals are concerned may want to skip this one (wish someone had alerted me as i did read reviews before purchasing). I will try others written by her as she is a wonderful writer. A snapshot of the time definitely.
Fantastic characters and fascinating social issues; a lovely book I looked forward to getting into every night and was sad when done.
