I just inherited a very special book, and I wondered if others have books like this... where it's not only the story inside that means something to you, but THAT copy of the book. Here's mine: My grandparents' favorite album was Willie Nelson's Red Headed Stranger. Back in 1982, my mom and a family friend mad a book for my grandmother of the title song. My mom did the lettering, and our friend illustrated it and bound it. (I can say this in a public forum because it was made for a gift and not for profit, therefore I'm pretty sure it falls under fair use.) I have lots of memories of both grandparents, but especially my grandmother, attached to those songs. So I was grateful that mom saved the book for me when my grandmother's room was cleaned out last year.
I'd like to hear other people's stories of either special-made books or bought books where it's that particular copy that's important to you. Please share! |
