I loved this series of Spellman books by Lisa Lutz. She's got that young cutting-edge vibe going with her Izzy character. She's the Sedaris of comedy mystery writers, drawing on much from her imaginary family life...she tells us these books aren't autobiographical, but what she doesn't deny is that the Spellman family is the one she wished she'd had.
The plots aren't complicated, the writing is clever, though, right down to the footnotes, which I love. I didn't find them distracting at all, rather I thought they were clever ways to market the previous books!
O.K., so they're not the book "crack" the Girl With Dragon Tattoo series was, but they are good enough to keep you turning the pages, even if these pages turn a little more slowly!
Good fun, for me!
