we have started sprouting in order to have fresh veggies to eat.  If I stock up and buy seeds in bulk it will save us a ton of money. And now we are looking into making a solar cooker. We live in one room now...an old converted hotel and have no room to garden. But we do have a huge paved parking lot that really soaks up the heat. I am looking into using that heat to bake in a solar cooker and make sprout bread for nutrition and saving money. We have trimmed so much else I don't know where else to trim...gas is too high and food prices have risen high enough to really impact our standard of living. :(

you can get plans for solar ovens off the internet - don't have the site handy right now. They can be as simple as cardboard or a more permanent structure. You could garden in pots or raised beds even on asphalt. Square Foot Gardening has a way to do it.
