I just saw a very interesting documentary, called The Staircase, about a man who is accused of killing his second wife and making it look as though she had a fall down the stairs.

The background is a little tough to explain, but here goes:  Peterson and his second wife have a blended family, including 2 sons and 3 daughters.  After Michael's 2nd wife's death, homicide investigators find out that 17 years ago a friend of Michael Peterson's had a cerebral hemmorage (sp?) and was found dead on the stairs of her home.  The last person to see her was Michael Peterson.  The woman was friends with Michael Peterson and his 1st wife.  In the friend's will, she left her 2 daughters to Michael Peterson.  After divorcing his 1st wife, the 2 girls stayed with him and were raised by him and his 2nd wife.  When Peterson is accused of murdering his 2nd wife, the girls and his two sons stick by him, despite the strange coincidence that the two girl's birth mom had died under similar circumstances.  Also, evidence is found that Michael Peterson was having sexual relations with men during his marriage to his 2nd wife.  This is especially important due to the conservative nature of the community where his trial is held.

The documentary is engrossing, mainly because it is very difficult to determine whether Michael is the killer, despite the many hours of film with Peterson, his family, and his lawyers.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of Michael Peterson, and do you know of any books on the case?

That was a great case and I saw the documentary also..there are 2 books that I know of...One was Perfect Husband... by Jones and Written in Blood by Fanning..both are good books.  It has been a while since I have heard anything new about Peterson.  I worked in a bookstore for years..so I was familiar with the book he had written.
