Brian Freeman has never let me down. In this 3rd outing, Jonathan Stride returns from a Las Vegas with Serena to take back his job with the Duluth Minnesota Police Department. Jonathan receives an urgent call from Maggie, his former partner when she awakes to find that her semi-estranged husband is found dead in their home. Of course, Maggie is the prime suspect, spouses always are. Stride and Serena set out to find the truth only to find themselves in much deeper then either would have suspected. Serena's background is put to the test when not only does it come back to haunt her, but to literally bite her.

You have to pay attention in this book because nothing is quite as it seems. Who is after whom and why gets a bit twisted but in a way that Freeman is famous for and will keep you turning the pages.

I highly recommend this author. His foray's into the underbelly always make for a fascinating read.

I wasn't as impressed with this one as I was with his first two. One of the things that interested me in the first two was the relationships Stride had with his women, Maggie and Serena. In this book, they all seem a little more shallow and lacking. Still a decent book, but not certain I'll read the next one he comes out with. Maybe it's time to let Stride retire and create a new character already? Sad......

This is the third of Brian Freeman's Jonathon Stride series that I've read. He just gets batter and better. Well-developed characters, twisty plot, vivid setting, great dialog--what's not to like? Can't wait to get the next one!

About half way through it just got tedious reading, it didn't seem to be getting anywhere fast.

I like short chapters but I like for something to be happening and I felt this one was a little lacking

I gave it 3 stars just because I think it is good enough for that but not 4 or 5

Another good book in the series. Like his other books about half way through you are unable to atop reading and must find out what happens. A little slower start this time, but stick with it, once the action starts and some of the pieces start to fit together there is no stopping the action.

Another good one in the Stride series by Freeman. In this one, Stride has returned to Duluth, Minnesota, after his stint in Vegas as told in the prior book in the series, Stripped. He has his old job back on the force as police lieutenant and his girl friend, Serena, has joined him in Duluth working as a PI. The novel starts out when his partner, Maggie, finds her husband shot dead on a cold winter night and she is accused of his murder. But did she do it? The answers to this one come together after many twists and turns involving rape, murder, and a sex club in the city.

This was as usual a very intense thriller from Freeman. Very good character development throughout including Stride's fellow officers in the force and some very vile bad guys. And the ending contained a very surprising twist that I was not expecting. I have a couple more books in this series that I intend to read soon. Next up is In the Dark.

Stride works a case of his life as his partner Maggie is accused of killing her husband. Solid evidence and a trail of clues has Stride & Serena working to clear Maggie while an old case from the past pops up to haunt them all. Meanwhile a vicious rapist is targeting & killing women in their area & tying into Maggie's husbands murder. Full of deceit, twists, false leads, & a cunning killer this book delivers a fast punch suspenseful hit.
