(Please no spoilers, as I'm about to read this book)

I searched this forum for discussion of The Stand, but didn't see any discussion of the question I'm interested in -

Is the original version better, or the expanded version that King released after he got more editorial control?

Which version should I read?

The Stand is one of my favorite Stephen King books and I found that I truly preferred the expanded version.  Expanded versions are usually a testament to the author's ego, but not in this case.

Definitely the expanded version, its worth it.
