I think I was bitten by the bug - and now I want to pick the brains of PBS Star Trek fiction fans (of any and all series) about what novels (original fiction only) are their favorites. Could you spare me a top 5 (you get bonus points for top 10)? Has anyone read anything about the ST2009 (movie label being batted around) effect? Whether or not the relaunch/alternate timeline may affect New Frontier, Titan or any of the post TOS spin-off series? I think my preference will stay highest for TNG fiction - but I'm open to being proven wrong (hardcore fans seem to have a lot of good things to say about DS9 fiction, if you go by Amazon lists). |

Aw - the time limit for the secret bonus prize has expired, a real shame because I'm sure somebody would have loved that all-expenses-paid trip for 4 to Aruba. Now I'll just have to give it to the first person to tell me my fly is down (must be present to win). Good news is that there are a lot of fans posting these books on PBS - and that the turnover rate is relatively fast. This wiki is a helpful guide for navigating the ST fiction output (trusting Amazon and LibraryThing reviews for recommendations works well enough). Fortunately, I've been a fan of Doctor Who fiction for so long that wrapping my head around Star Trek output is a walk in the park. BTW - LibraryThing is an even better resource now, with their 'collections' options it is very easy to catalog genre and sub-genre fiction. (link) |
