Patricia Potter never disappoints me, and this book in no exception. This author does a great job of capturing the human spirit and making the reader really care about the characters. Part of a series.
Ian Sutherland should have hanged for his treason against the British Crown, along with his brother and the other Scottish freedom fighters. But he was spared, only to be shipped to Maryland and sold as an indentured servant - a fate worse than the death he'd expected. Ian has sworn nothing will stop him from escaping and returning to Scotland to salvage what's left of his clan. Until his master's sudden death leaves a young widow. Fancy Marsh, alone to care for her family - and to keep her cruel, convetous brother-in-law from taking what' rightfully hers. Honor compels Ian to help Fancy, and love, stonger than a bondsman's chains, binds their soul. Yet Robert Marsh will not relinquish his claim on Fancy without a struggle, and Ian finds he is forced to fight again for his love...and his life.
Good book. Second in the Star Trilogy. Other books are Starcatcher (1) and Star Keeper (3).
A good romance with characters that make you feel for them.
"Starfinder" is a prequel to the next part of the story which is "Starkeeper". Both very good books. Need to be read together. The story of a family from Scotland after the Battle of Culloden to America in pre Revolutionary War era. Well worth the read.
