Many of the other genre forums have started one - or even two - deals threads.   We know that people want to offer deals in the Mystery/Thriller forum because they keep doing it even though they aren't supposed to.  But frankly, I would love to know if people are offering deals and have a lot of mysteries on their shelves.   If we had a deals thread, we could encourage people offering deals to post there.

And we could ask for deals in the same thread (or a totally separate one if you prefer).   For example, if a person is looking for a deal on multiple books by the same author or in the same series.

What do you think?

I say YES!

I can understand the ruling that wants to keep the forums uncluttered from deals but if there was just the one thread for deals being offered and (maybe) one also for requesting deals, then I don't see the problem. It's very hard trying to find mysteries (especially cozies), in deals on people's bookshelves in the book bazaar.

Just my 2c worth!

I would like that very much  it's hard to find mysteries/thrillers/cozies in the  book  bazaar.   People are not very clear on what they have on their book shelves.

So would this be limited to deals only on mysteries and thrillers, or any deal you are offering?  My thought, tho I don't post here much, so I don't know how much it matters, but my thought is that if one uses the thread to post any old deal than all sorts of non mystery folks will stop by and abuse it.  I would say it would have to be for mystery/thriller deals only.  Just my 2 cents.  :>)

Julie - Just those promoting deals for mysteries/thrillers.   We would make that clear in the thread title and description.   I don't think we could stop someone from promoting a deal on their whole shelf, but if they don't have any mysteries or thrillers on their shelf what would be the point of them even coming to this forum?

I would like a thread with that as a subject. Maybe it should be in the book bazaar with a mystery/thriller focus though?  We do have the one "Is this on your bookshelf?" when we are seeking books but I think that fills a different need.  I would like to be able to share my mystery deals with this forum, esp. when I "score" a bunch at a sale.  (Which doesn't happen very often...)

I'm irritated by individual posts with deals; maybe a topic with just deals would eliminate some of that, too.

I would love to see one deals thread started in this forum.  While the book bazaar has it's purpose, there are so many posts there every hour that it's overwhelming and a mystery/thriller thread could easily get buried very quickly.  So . . . .  who's gonna start it here?  :)

I'll go start it now ~~ even though I don't have any books to offer deals on ;)  This way we can stop talking about it -- and have it ;)

I like the idea the only problem is wading through all of the posts.  now if people were to edit their posts when the deal is done then it would be easier to go through what is still available
