It took awhile for the story line to begin, but once in motion, it captured my attention; however, the ending was disappointing, and made no sense given the altruistic intent of Dr. Eckman for Easter, an orphaned child. This was my first Ann Patchett book; unless she receives better reviews, I won't be likely to read her again.
