I read today that Stephen Hawkings after much research has determined that God did not create us or the earth. I'm suprised he hasn't been killed yet lol. I don't know who all read the artical on the net today but it was awesome it also made me feel like there is a Genius who through theroy can prove as best as possible that we are a product of the big bang not Adam and Eve .Just wondered if anyone else had read it and what there thoughts on it are,

Yes, I'm interested to read. It sounds like he uses physics to make a pretty good scientific arguement, proving that god was not necesary to create the universe.

"Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing," the excerpt says. "Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist. It is not necessary to invoke God to ... set the Universe going."

Apparently because of gravity, matter particules will eventually collide, creating the big bang and thus, life. I'm interested to see how he proves it ... assuming I'm ablre to understand the physics :-)

Granted, I am not a genius scientist, but the statement "Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing" just doesn't make sense to me. How does that prove or disprove God? Can does not imply will anyway.

Ha ha ha.......once again the physicist steps on the toes of the metaphysicist!     Gravity, phooey!    The universe IS, folks, because of SERENDIPITY!

Now, if scientists would just stop trying to "prove" something, and religionists would just stop trying to refer the (physical) universe back to a "supernatural being", I would listen  to both more attentively and respectfully.

Yes I see ur point and agree. But Hawkings work regarding black holes and other things make what he says carry a little more weight than it would if someone else would of presented it.He is just a brilliant person. I think he is going to be remembered in the way Einstein was. But I totally see ur point well put and well taken.
