I too vote for Bentley Little(Ive read most of his books).Also-Clive Barker:)

Try Robert McCammon.  If you liked The Stand, then start with McCammon's Swan's Song.  You might also like Sarah Pinborough and Jack Ketchum.

I would recommend Simon Clark and Shirley Jackson.
