I had heard that this was a YA book, but then I heard it had some sex scenes in it.  Now, if one considers 18 or 19 as young adult, that's one thing, but 12 or 13, um, no to the sex scenes.  So, does anyone know, is this true, are there some (or even one) sex scene in this book?  Is it explicit or just something like, they begin kissing and then wake up the next morning, with no more detail then that?  Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks

The movie based on that book was good.  Don't remember the sex scenes.  I have the book on my TBR, though.

I don't remember a sex scene. . . but it's been several years. However, since I DON'T remember it, I'm pretty sure that if there is something it's off-screen -- as in, it's clear from the text that they have sex, but there's no graphic description.

I would describe it as a YA book in that it features a YA protagonist (I think he's 16 or 17) and has a very strong coming-of-age plot; but if you're looking for a book for a young teen or pre-teen it might still be a little too adult, as the main character is abused by his father (and the abuse is definitely on screen).

Oh! Which actually reminds me of the sex scene whoever it is was likely talking about. . . There is a scene where a man attempts to rape the male main character. The attempted rape is interrupted before anything can occur, but it might be too intense for a young teen. I think that's all the sex in the book. . . there is a romance subplot, but I really don't remember it being consummated on the page.
