If I go without reporting very many books recieved, will I get banned? That is, I have not received any of the last 3 books that were supposed to be sent to me (along with another package of DVDs I was expecting), so if I don't report any of them received, what happens? Will I get banned for 'mooching books'? It's most likely the crap-a** post office losing my packages, since I have had many lost packages up to this point, but never three or four in a row! I don't want to get in trouble with PBS for not marking any books received!

I have called my apartment office, they have no packages, and the mail carrier says they always deliver them to me or to the office, but I have had mail carriers drop them in front of my door and leave many times. I am almost always home, so I doubt all 3 books were stolen in my building, but could there be a postal worker stealing the packages? What do I do???

Here's the page from the Help Center about lost books.  It's got a section about what to do if a lot of books get lost en route to you. http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=lost

Hope that helps :)

Kris--

If you suspect that the mail carriers are stealing your packages, as you imply, you should contact your local postmaster and work with them.

This can jeopardize your membership, so you want to work with them, and your senders, to get to the bottom of the issue.

Cheers,

Catt

They should never be leaving mail unsecured in your building.  Talk to your local postmaster and ask them to deliver to your apt. office or to hold them for you.

I too am becoming concerned about the number of lost books I have had happen on their way to me, especially in the last year or so. I really can't figure it out.  Are these people just saying they mailed them and not really doing it? Why would they do that? Is the post office misdelivering my books and other people keeping them? Are they not being delivered ANYWHERE? It is starting to royally p*ss me off and worries me that TPTB will think I am lying about how many books are not showing up:(

Maybe you could open a PO Box and go get your packages.

Are you comfortable with the front office getting your packages?  Are you sure they aren't being taken from there?

I have had one go lost reciently.  It's a bummer.  I can't imagine 3-4!

If I had that many things go missing, I would definitely get a P.O. box and have all packages sent there.  If you then find that you don't have missing packages anymore, I'd then talk with the Postmaster at your P.O. and discuss this with him.

Well, being that I live on $600 a month and can barely afford to even participate in this web site, paying for a PO box is not an option, both for the money issue and because I'd be lucky if I could pick up my mail once a week or less!

If anyone is stealing the packages, it would be the postal carrier. I asked the 80-year-old guy who delivered my mail on Sat. and he claimed he was new and he normally didn't carry on my route. He said that the regular carrier would either give them to me or to the office if I wasn't home. But I am home all but one day a week, and that's rare. I don't understand it, but I will call the PO as soon as I can.
