With this book, Charles Rivers is trying to give more clarity to the misty pasts of the Stone Age. Since it has been an eon since I was in a science class, this overview of the latest-and-greatest info is fascinating reading. It is absolutely amazing to see how scientists are piecing bones and tools together to give us a clearer picture of the people/humanoids that preceded us. The evolutionary facts change as more info becomes available worldwide.

Current theories pose that the Neanderthal and the Devnisovans are two separate groups that affected modern man (1 to 4% of our DNA). However, the theory is that there is another group between modern man and those listed above. Charles Rivers writes this in such an engaging way that the casual reader can come away with quite a bit of knowledge about the current theories on man and pre-man.
