Navin and Emily are back with all their old friends, and some new ones, for another adventure in the AMULET series.

Picking up where we last left our heroes, we find them inside their great-grandfather's traveling house searching for an antidote for their poisoned mother. When they reach the city of Kanal is when things start to look hopeful. That is until the elf prince and his army show up.

The elf prince is determined to steal Emily's amulet and use its power. Now, Emily must learn to accept her role as a stonekeeper and save the day.

This graphic novel is a very exciting sequel. Emily really comes out of her shell in this book and becomes a strong character.

Boys and girls alike will love seeing Emily and Navin stand up for themselves and watching Emily take charge of the amulet's powers. I can't wait to see what's next for Emily and her family. Hopefully, we'll see the next volume in the series soon!

I really like this book! Emily is a bit of a "perfect" heroine, but all of the characters are hilarious and have their comical tics and quirks. The concept is funny, and the graphics are terrific. There are some inconsistences in the details, but overall a great book!
P.S. I'm going to write an edited version of the synopsis, since that is not how it goes.

In this thrilling sequel to AMULET #1: THE STONEKEEPER, Emily and her brother Navin head for Kanalis in search of a cure for their poisoned mother, with a cast of lifelike robots, including the stuffed-bunny/escort robot Misket, in tow. There they learn that the only cure is the fruit from an intelligent tree on the top of Demon's Head Mountain. Unfortunately, the Elf King and his minions, including last book's archenemy Trellis, are hot on their heels.
A battle is looming. Time is running out for their mother. The amulet around Emily's neck is trying to take her over. Can Emily save her friends and family--while still keeping her soul intact?

This was a great addition to the Amulet series. Fans of the first book will love this one.

Emily and Navin have rescued their mother but she is dying from deadly poison. Now Emily and Nevin have to travel with the strange crew they found in the house to the city of Kanalis. There they will find more intriguing characters, hopefully find an answer to their mother's illness, and also find that more is afoot than just their small problems.

This was a wonderful graphic novel. The illustrations are absolutely breathtaking and the storyline grows a lot in this book. You find that Emily and her family are part of a much larger story and have important roles that may determine the fate of this world.

The characters actually go through a lot of development. You see Nevin starting to grow and really take shape at the things he is good at. Emily has further battles with the Amulet which she learns and grows from. There are some wonderful new character additions; of which Leon Redbeard is the most delightful and interesting.

Overall I just loved this book. It is beautiful, has an engaging story, great characters, and an interesting plot that just keeps growing in complexity. This was just a perfect book and I can't wait to read the next one in the series, The Cloud Watcher's. Strongly recommend this series for anyone middle grade and older who loves reading about adventure and fantasy. This series is just magical.
