This is a fun book about a New Yorker who moves to the Caribbean to run a hotel. There are some truly funny parts to this book; however, I did not like the ending.

I though it was dated and really slow. Not very funny, but that's just me.

At first this book started out a little slow for me, but then it picked up speed as I went along. I've never experienced a holiday on a Caribbean island, but after reading this book I can just imagine what life is like there; especially behind the scenes. A fun read!

If you've ever listened to Jimmy Buffett's CD "Don't Stop the Carnival", this is where he found the story about Norman Paperman. I heard the CD first, then found this book on PBS and was curious. I'm happy to say the book is very entertaining, fast reading, and is a perfect match with Buffett's music.

DON'T STOP THE CARNIVAL is Herman Wouk's comedy about living out your fantasies on an exotic Caribbean island. Norman Paperman, a successful Broadway publicity agent, has long dreamed of escaping his high-pressure Manhattan life. In a fit of bravado, he chucks it all and buys an old hotel on tiny, primitive, lush Amerigo island.
