Want to know about coal mines in West Virginia, well here's your chance. There's happiness and sadness in this book. My father and grandfather were coal miners and it was a "must" read for me in my English class at West Virginia State College.

This was a great historical, southern novel in which the characters were fully developed and the plot (real events in history) was gripping. If you want to learn more about Appalachia and the coal-mining industry of the turn-of-the-century, Storming Heaven is a wonderful resource (as well as the sequel "The Unquiet Earth").

Fictiolized tale of West Virginia and the coal mining industry up to the Battle of Blair Mountain when the United States Army interviened against the Union. Story is written in character with local dialect observed.

This book is fabulous! The realism and the wonderful story is priceless! It is the kind of book that when you finish you wish you had not read it so you could read it all over again!
