I did not expect much of a 100-page book for children, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good this book is. It is not simply a retelling of the entire Little House series, which is based on fact but mixed with story-telling. This book is an actual biography, drawing from the books but also from Wilder's real life, starting at the age of four and going on until her death. It includes the birth and death of her brother, the real cause of Mary's blindness, and a summary of how she came to be a writer. It also gives a brief summary of her daughter Rose's life. For children who aren't ready for the 'grown-up' biographies, this book is a perfect start.
