I actually enjoyed this book. It had a lot of stories that were origanally submitted to magazines before Hamilton became well known. However, it also had 2 Anita Blake stories. One written before the series started and one that goes with the more recent story line. Since most of this is her earlier stuff, there is more emotion than sex.

As a fan of Hamilton, I have felt that her recent editions to her series work (Anita Blake and Merry Gentry)have been good, but a little lacking. This was a fresh piece. Most of the stories are pre-published and some are set in the world of her Anita series, and even a few set in the Nightseer world, which I found fascinating. A good addition!

Seeing these short stories by Laurell K. Hamilton was a treat. Some were good, some were great, and some can be skipped over. My biggest problem with the whole shebang is the cover. This book has nothing to do with women in bondage attire eating candy. Actually, this book has no sex in it at all. Which, when you think about it, is "strange" indeed when you consider the other series' that this author writes.

Overall, a pretty good read, although some of Ms. Hamilton's snarky comments in the introductions to some of the stories really didn't need to be included.

If you're a fan of Ms. Hamilton, you'll want to read STRANGE CANDY just to see how she handles short stories. If you're looking for another sex-filled Anita Blake or Meredith Gentry story, this isn't the place to find it.

And for those who feel the need to hide the cover of this book beneath a copy of Good Housekeeping, I don't blame you. The cover is there for shock value alone, nothing else. It doesn't apply to what's inside the book at all, and for that someone should be ashamed.

Very light reading, read it in a night. One new Anita Blake story, which was ok. I wouldn't pay hardback cover prices for it, but an ok read if you are a fan.

Strange Candy is something of a departure from the usual read I get from Laurell K Hamilton but I was not at all disappointed! The writing style is definitely hers and the stories are every bit as good as her Anita Blake Series! I Have just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed myself! I like the shorter stories now and then because there are times you just can't read a novel in the time you have available.
I highly recommend this book!

I really liked this book. Hamilton has long been one of my favorite authors and reading a few well-done short stories is always a treat. There is such a varietal with plots and writing styles that it's interesting to see how she's grown and is still creative as a writer. Granted, there were some oddities here and there about things in one of the world's she's created, but it's still just part of her imaginative mind that she shares with us.

Based on the cover, Hamilton fans like myself I think expected short stories more along the lines of the Anita Blake series. If that's the type of story you want, you will be sadly disappointed in Strange Candy. I'm a diehard Anita fan, but this book was NOT worth hardcover price.

This is a grate short story book. It has two Anita Blake stories and many others that are as diverse as can be. I love how Hamilton writes and is able to make her readers feel like they are part of the story. She has a way of making each story unique and real.

A great addition to my collection.

An imaginative ollection of short stories by the author of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter and the Meredith Gentry series. Tales range from the merely odd to the truly outrageous, with everything in between. Also includes two Anita Blake short stories and another set in the Anita Blake universe.
