GROWING UP ON A RANCH, RUTHIE KEAG WAS NO STRANGER TO THE BEAUTY AND ADVENTURE OF THE GREAT SOUTHWESTERN OUTDOORS. SHE OFTEN TOOK LONG RIDES THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS ON HER HORSE, SUNDUST; AND IF SHE NEEDED TO SHE COULD DEFEND HERSELF WITH A RIFLE. SHE WAS EVEN ACCUSTOMED TO THE SCRAGGLY PROSPECTORS WHO COMBED THE AREA IN SEARCH OF GOLD.

BUT RUTHIE WASN'T PREPARED FOR THE ODD-LOOKING MAN SHE SPOTTED IN HIDDEN VALLEY CANYON. AS HE HURRIED ABOUT SETTING UP CAMP, HE MADE AN EXTRAORDINARY NOISE--A PECULIAR COMBINATION OF A WHISTLE AND A HUM. A SHIMMERING ROBE COVERED HIM FROM HEAD TO TOE, AND HIS EYES WERE A BRILLIANT AND EERIE SHADE OF BLUE.

WHAT WAS HE DOING WAY OUT IN THE DESERT? AND WHY DID HE WEAR SUCH FUNNY CLOTHES? WAS THIS STRANGER SOMEONE TO BE TRUSTED...OR FEARED?
