I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the first book in this new series, Immoral. I was even happier to see that this author wrote a second entertaining, intriguing book, Stripped. The characters come to life, and the plots just keep twisting. I hope there is a third book in the works!
Great mystery/thriller set in modern-day Las Vegas that revolves around a murder that happened forty years ago. The main characters are so likeable, especially Amanda! Though it is the second book by Brian Freeman in this new series, it can be read just fine as a stand-alone.
Very intriguing and just a touch raunchy!
#2 Jonathan Stride police procedural, this one moving from Duluth to Las Vegas. An old murder case, once considered solved, is brought to the fore as people related to those who were associated with Amira Luz, murdered exotic dancer, begin to die off. The killer is giving them clues, even deliberately leaving fingerprints at some of the crime scenes, and Jonathan is trying to figure out why as he delves into the past to try to solve the old crime which will almost certainly lead to the present-day killer. When a case Serena (his lover and the reason he moved to Vegas) is working on ties in with his own case, they get the chance to work together again.
I liked this book; I love Freeman's writing style and his characters, but this one was a little weird. There seemed to be an inordinate number of G/L/T (gay/lesbian/transgendered) people in it, which I don't have a problem with in any way, it just seemed like the book was overrun with them for some reason, including Stride's new partner Amanda, a 'she-male' who is also a darned good cop. I also didn't like the Vegas setting as well as Duluth, which is a city I dearly love. And I did figure out part of the mystery, although not a couple of the plot twists. I didn't like it quite as well as the first one, but it was still very good and am looking forward to the next in series.
If you liked Immoral then you will love this one!
This book is like a huge puzzle, lots of pieces to it that fit together to make a big picture at the end. About 3/4 of the way through you may start to figure out a little part but it doesn't come together until the very end. Very good book, hard to follow his first book Immoral but he sure tried hard. I look forward to Stalked next, Brian Freeman tells a good story and puts it all together with much suspense.
Another intense Jonny Stride and Serena Dial story...can't wait for more
***** Excellent book. Great author.
could not put it down. Has alot of grafics in it .
I recently read both of Brian Freeman's book. Jonathan Stride is an anti-hero hero. He has interesting encounters and relationships. I'll keep reading Freeman.
Loved this fast paced thriller, read in one day because it was that good! I enjoy the style in which the book is written, the character development and it is easy to get to know these characters and feel that you know them.
Another very good thriller by Brian Freeman! I am enjoying his Jonathan Stride series of books. This is Book #2.........Book #1 is "Immoral" and Book #3 is "Stalked".
I like Brian Freeman and this is a good story, however, it is way too long with just too much detail to absorb and there are some pages that can be skimmed and not miss anything. But it is a good book.
I've now read Freeman's Immoral and Stripped pretty much back-to-back. They are well-written and have good character development. Jonathan Stride is a police officer. In both books, he is investigating homicides. The books are a bit dark, but they are quick reads, and I'll look forward to the next.
