I'm a senior, a voracious reader, and have always volunteered in areas having to do with books and reading with children (and once with adult women being released from prison who had children). I am currently volunteering to help 'struggling readers' between Grades 1-5 at my local elementary school. Right now I work only with struggling readers or basic 'non-readers' who have unfortunately been passed on from one grade to the next without being able to read at grade level and in some cases, at all. These are the children I have a soft spot for because the fact that they see they cannot read like the others, begins to affect almost every subject and their self-esteem as well. In my reading time I give away 'a free book to take home' of your very own at the end of our session. Often the children I work with have most likely never been read to and have no books at home. I hit my local Goodwills at least once a week trying to find GOOD childrens books in almost NEW condition with no writing in them or torn pages....so the kids feel it is a NEW book. Typically I end up spending about $22 a week which honestly I can ill afford to do but can't help myself! I have right now 3rd graders who can't read, or definitely are not reading at 3rd grade level. I could use some donations of not just 'any old book' but well-written childrens books that would catch the interest of kids who basically hate reading right now because they're not good at it. I want to bring the joy of reading to them and make them feel a 'success'. If you have a book you would be willing to donate to me, please email me.

Ones I would really like to find (if even possible) are these of note:

Bunnicula-A-Rabbit Tale of Mystery

Shivers! The Pirate Who's Afraid of Everything by Annabeth Bondor-Stone, Connor White

Lunch Lady and the Cyborg Substitute by Jarrett J. Krosoczka

Shredderman: Secret Identity by Wendelin Van Draanen

Stick Dog by Tom Watson

Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog by Tom Watson

Bad Kitty Gets a Bath by Nick Bruel

Sammy Feral's Diaries of Weird by Eleanor Hawken
