It is 624 pages! An excellent book! I just LOVED this book by Eileen
Goudge! Two sisters have one thing in common... a passion for the same man that threatens to drive them apart forever. Annie created a thriving chocolate shop on Madison Avenue, NYC, using her independent nature and sharp business sense, while her sister, Laurel, became a noted illustrator, yet struggled to get out of her sister's shadow. Characters are fully developed, as is the entire plot. ENJOY!

The first sisters are Eve and Dolly, both Hollywood actresses, both pretty but with Eve having the determination to be the best, which gets her to the top while Dolly settles for parts in B grade movies. A crooked agent plays on Dolly's jealousy of her sister to falsely accuse her of communist sympathies, bringing her career to an end. Eve's subsequent suicide preys on Dolly's conscience, causing her to devote much of her life to the care of Eve's two daughters, Annie and Laurel. The major part of the book belongs to the lives and careers of the two girls, with Annie intent on becoming one of the great chocolatiers of the time and Laurel pursuing a career in art. It's an involved story with some pretty steamy love scenes and characters falling in and out of love. It actually would make a great soapie with villains and heroes, breaking hearts and heroines and the most mouth watering descriptions of fine chocolate making that can be imagined.

From the Publisher
From the author of the national bestseller Garden of Lies, a sensational new novel about an act of betrayal that shatters one woman's life and echoes through the lives of two generations of sisters. Climaxing in a glittering chocolate gala at the Plaza Hotel, e dark secret, and the love, that binds them.

In Hollywood in the 1950s, Dolly betrayed her sister, Eve. Now a successful chocolatier, she is trying to make up for the vengeful act that cost her sister her life. Eve left two daughters: resourceful Annie and sensitive Laurel, both of whom come to New York. Annie is determined to take care of her little sister and is strong enough to make it on her own...if she can keep one step ahead of her stepfather. Laurel struggles to free herself from her sister's shadow--and discovers she and Annie love the same man, Joe. Which sister he chooses, and why, influences all their lives as they are swept from the haute chocolateries of Paris to New York where they come face-to-face with the dark secret--and the love--that binds them.

"Double-dipped a glamorous, cut-throat world...satisfying...irrestistible" - San Francisco Chronicle
Annie and Laurel. Two sisters could scarcely be more different. Annie, the independent one-strong enough to make it on her own as proprietress of Tout de Suite, the fabulous and famous Madison Aveneue chocolate shop. Laurel, the sensitive one-struggling for years to free herself from her sister's shadow, even as she becomes a noted and sought-after illustrator. Each is desperately vying for the heart of the same man, who loves them both. Set against the glamour and excitement of the haute chocolate industry, sweeping from Bel Air to Manhattan, Paris to the Caribbean, this is the searing story of a blood bond, of family secrets and betrayals-and of a pssion that forces two sisters to make the hardest choice women in love can make.
